Disu named SEC Player of the Week after back-to-back double-doubles

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Sophomore Dylan Disu was named the SEC Player of the Week for the first time in his career Monday as announced by the conference office.

Disu averaged 23 points and 15.5 rebounds against Kentucky and at No. 8 Alabama last week. A 6-foot-9, 220-pound forward from Pflugerville, Texas, Disu posted a career-high 29 points and career-best 16 rebounds in addition to three assists, two steals and two blocks while shooting 10 of 20 from the field against the Wildcats. He added 17 points and 15 rebounds in the road tilt against the Tide.

Disu became the first Commodore with back-to-back double-doubles since Simi Shittu in 2018 and is Vandy’s first SEC Player of the Week since Saben Lee was honored in the final week of last season.

Disu and the Commodores will host in-state rival No. 25 Tennessee at 8 p.m. Wednesday on SEC Network.
