Pitcher named SEC Freshman of the Week

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt right-hander Kumar Rocker has been named SEC Freshman of the Week following a dominant performance against No. 12 Arkansas, the league office announced Monday.

Rocker produced a pair of career highs, tossing seven innings while striking out seven on Saturday. The Athens, Georgia, native did not allow a run or walk and limited the Hogs to 0-for-5 with runners on base. Arkansas did not put a leadoff batter aboard in seven opportunities.

Rocker becomes the fourth Commodore to be recognized by the conference this spring, joining JJ Bleday (player of the week), Drake Fellows(pitcher of the week) and Austin Martin (player of the week). The hurler has fanned six-plus batters in four-straight starts.
