Pinkney Praised

Vanderbilt tight end recognized by ESPN, Sports Illustrated

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt redshirt senior tight end Jared Pinkney has been named to a pair of preseason All-America teams, including being tabbed one of the nation’s best players by ESPN, the publication announced Monday.

The Norcross, Georgia, native was also named a second-team honoree by Sports Illustrated. The recognition is the latest for Pinkney, who has also appeared on the John Mackey Award Watch List and Biletnikoff Award Watch List.


Pinkney also became the second Commodore in as many years to be named as a preseason candidate for the Walter Camp Award. He enters his final year with 94 career receptions, 1,327 receiving yards and 12 touchdown catches, all tops nationally among tight ends.

Pinkney ranks among the nation’s leading returnees at tight end. His 774 receiving yards from a year ago is the most of any tight end returning for the 2019 season. His 50 receptions and seven touchdown catches also rank among top returning totals for his position.

The Commodores host Georgia in Vanderbilt Stadium in the Aug. 31 opener. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Season-ticket packages for the Commodores’ seven-game home schedule starts at only $308 for premium sideline seats and $178 for reserve end zone sections of Vanderbilt Stadium.
