Pinkney Adds Preseason Honor

Tight end named to Street & Smith's All-America team

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Standout Vanderbilt tight end Jared Pinkney has added another honor to a growing list of preseason accolades.

Street & Smith’s named Pinkney as a first team All-America in its annual college football preview.

Pinkney, a redshirt senior from Norcross, Georgia, has been racking up honors heading into the 2019 season. In late June, The Sporting News and Phil Steele included Pinkney on their All-America teams. Virtually every college football preview magazine has included Pinkney as a preseason All-SEC performer.

In 2018, Pinkney put together one of the most productive seasons ever by a Vanderbilt tight end, amassing 774 receiving yards and seven touchdowns on 50 catches. It marked the most receiving yards by a Commodore tight end since Chuck Scott’s 971-yard total in 1983.

Pinkney’s 774 receiving yards also is the most of any active tight end in college football. His 50 receptions and seven touchdowns from 2018 rank second and third, respectively, among active tight ends.

A two-time John Mackey Tight End of the Week recipient in 2018, Pinkney enters his final year with 94 career receptions, 1,327 receiving yards and 12 touchdown catches, all tops nationally among tight ends.

Vanderbilt opens the year Aug. 31 on West End, hosting nationally ranked SEC East opponent Georgia. Kickoff for the opener is at 6:30 p.m.

Besides Georgia, Vanderbilt’s home schedule includes LSU on Sept. 21, Northern Illinois on Sept. 28, UNLV on Oct. 12, Missouri on Oct. 19, Kentucky on Nov. 16 and East Tennessee State on Nov. 23.

Vanderbilt officials kept 2019 season tickets at the same rates as a year ago. Season-ticket packages for the Commodores’ seven-game home schedule starts at only $308 for premium sideline seats and $178 for reserve end zone sections of Vanderbilt Stadium. Tickets can be purchased here.
