Phillips Named Assistant Coach

Incoming assistant recently served as head coach at Memphis' Whitehaven High School

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt head men’s basketball coach Jerry Stackhouse has announced the hiring of Faragi Phillips as an assistant coach for the Commodores. Phillips comes to Vanderbilt after serving as the head coach at Whitehaven High School in Memphis, Tennessee, for the last four seasons.

Phillips went 75-30 in his four seasons as Whitehaven’s head coach. Before his time at Whitehaven, Phillips led Mitchell High School, also in Memphis, to consecutive state titles and went 105-31 in four years. Mitchell won state championships in 2014 and 2015 and finished as runner-up in 2012.

Phillips played collegiately at Mississippi Valley State from 1995-99, where he averaged 12.6 points in his four-year career and 20.9 points per game as a senior.
