NORTH PLAINS, Ore. – The Vanderbilt men’s golf team travels to the Pacific Northwest this Sunday through Tuesday when they take part in the Nike Collegiate Invitational. The tournament field, considered the toughest in collegiate golf, will take place at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club.
The Commodores, who finished second at the 2018 edition of the tournament at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas, will send senior John Augenstein, junior Harrison Ott, sophomore Reid Davenport, and freshmen William Moll and Matthew Riedel to compete next week. Augenstein will be making his first appearance for the Commodores this season after leading the United States to victory at the 2019 Walker Cup in Hoylake, England earlier in the month.
“Nike does so many great things for our program and we are really thankful for their support,” said Vanderbilt head coach Scott Limbaugh. “This is a really cool event and it will be fun for us to get to go out west again and compete against one of the best fields in college golf on another outstanding course.”
Vanderbilt will compete against Georgia, Baylor, Clemson, Duke, Florida, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Southern Cal, Stanford, TCU, Texas, and Wake Forest.
Eighteen holes will be played each day Sunday through Tuesday, with live scoring found on Golfstat.com throughout the week.
“We have taken some good steps over the last few weeks and I think we are getting better,” said Limbaugh. “Our focus needs to be on us and seeing if we can take a step towards being the team we want to be. It will be good to have John back in the lineup and his leadership is very valuable for this group. As the season continues, I think it is important for our team and coaches to continue to take ownership, be positive, play with courage, and have some fun. I really like this group and I am excited that we get to compete again.”
