Commodores Cruise Over Indianapolis

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt dominated the game from start to finish and defeated Indianapolis, 20-8, Saturday afternoon at the Vanderbilt Lacrosse Complex.
 
After falling behind 1-0, The Commodores fired off seven-straight goals to take a 7-1 lead within the first eight minutes of the game. The Commodores concluded the first half with nine more goals to take a 16-5 lead into the break.
 
The Dores had three players with three goals apiece in Hadley Brown, Gwyn Devin and Sophie Furlong. Four different Commodores had two goals in the game with Julie Blaze, Gabrielle Fornia, Maddie Souza and Callie Sundin adding two goals themselves.
 
Fornia led all players with nine total points with two goals and seven assists on the afternoon.
 
The Commodores saw 10 different players score in the contest as they controlled possession for the majority of the game. Karlie Bucci, Brianne Gross and Emily Mathewson wrapped up the scoring for the Dores with them all scoring a goal.
 
All three goalkeepers played for the Commodores with Madison Foglio getting the start in goal. She and Lily Argyle played about 20 minutes each, and they both recorded a save. Grace Bell played the last 14 minutes of the game.
 
Vanderbilt kicks off the regular season Feb. 10 against Wagner College at the Vanderbilt Lacrosse Complex.
