Women's basketball set to open SEC action

NASHVILLE – The Vanderbilt women’s basketball team travels to No. 16 Kentucky to open SEC action on Thursday for a 6 p.m. tilt. Fans can watch on SEC Network Plus, follow live stats or listen to Charlie Mattos on WNSR 560 AM or 95.9 FM.
 
STARTING FIVE

  1. Vanderbilt topped the Wildcats in Nashville last season, 70-55.
  2. In last season’s victory Autumn Newby led the Commodores in reobunds with seven while Chelsie Hall led in assists and steals with five in each category.
  3. The Commodores are coming off of a 77-52 win over Samford on December 28 at Memorial Gymnasium.
  4. Fasoula is leading the Commodores in both points and rebounds with 16.9 and 7.6, respectively.
  5. Kentucky comes into the contest with a  13-1 mark on the season with its lone loss coming against No. 3 Louisville.

 
 
SCOUTING REPORT

  • Rhyne Howard is leading the Wildcats in scoring with 17.8 points-per-game. Three Kentucky players are averaging 14.1 points-per-game or better.
  • UK has not lost on its home court this season.
  • Howard is also leading the Cats in in rebounds, averaging 7.4.
