NASHVILLE – The No. 25 Commodores are seeking to match the longest win streak in program history this Sunday when they face Georgia.
The Commodores, 10-1 overall and 3-0 in the SEC, host the Bulldogs on Sunday at 4 p.m. CT at the Vanderbilt Soccer Complex. The Dores jumped into the rankings for the first time since 2006, and they sit in first place in the SEC.
The Commodores are the only team undefeated in conference play and are riding a 10-game win streak. It is one win shy of the program-record 11-game win streak established in 2005.
Sparked by Kaylann Boyd and Haley Hopkins, Vanderbilt has outscored its opponents 25-6 in its winning streak. Hopkins leads the team with seven goals and Boyd is right behind her with six. Those marks rank fourth and sixth in the SEC, respectively.
They have both been solid in SEC play, each scoring twice in conference games. Boyd scored against Florida and Missouri, while Hopkins netted her second multi-goal game of the year against Alabama.
The Commodores also have been superb on defense. Goalkeeper Lauren Demarchi posts an SEC-best .917 save percentage and a second-best 0.35 goals against average. She has only allowed two goals this season.
Georgia, 4-4-3 overall and 1-1-1 in the SEC, most recently lost to Texas A&M, 2-0. The last meeting between the two teams was a 2-1 victory for the Dores in 2017.
The matchup is set to air on ESPNU. It is the second of three games this season for the Commodores on the network.
