Vanderbilt men set for Greater Louisville Classic

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt’s men’s cross country program heads to Louisville, Ky., for the Greater Louisville Classic at E.P. “Tom” Sawyer Park. The Commodores will take on 19 other programs in the 8K race beginning at 8:30 a.m., including No. 19 Middle Tennessee State and nine regionally-ranked teams.

Freshman Nick Laning looks to build off his last time out in which he earned just the second SEC weekly cross country honor in program history. The Barrington, Ill., product finished Vanderbilt’s Percy Warner Park eight-kilometer home course in 25:36.80 to claim his first SEC Freshman of the Week accolade. The time is a course best by a freshman Commodore and it’s the third fastest time recorded on the course in program history. His 20th place finish came in a field featuring 139 competitors representing 19 different programs.

Laning’s effort fueled Vanderbilt’s 10th place team finish, giving the men nine top-10 finishes at the Commodore Classic. Caleb Casolaro, Matthew Estopinal, Edward Harpstead, Andrew Irvine, Aidan Livingston, Lucas Mowery, Patrick Perrier, Evan Suzman, Harrison Thomas, Caleb Van Geffen and Jason Vincze are all scheduled to compete for the Commodores.
