NASHVILLE – The Vanderbilt women’s basketball team (7-24) got a team-best 16 points and career-high 14 rebounds from sophomore Kayla Overbeck and seniors Rachel Bell and Christa Reed were in double figures with 16 points and 12 points, respectively, but the Commodores fell to the Arkansas Razorbacks (13-17), 88-76, in the first round of the SEC Tournament on Wednesday.

How It Happened
First Quarter: Vanderbilt 20, Arkansas 13
Arkansas opened up a 5-2 lead early but the Dores relied on the three-point prowess of Cierra Walker, who nailed back-to-back triples, before Chelsie Hall got in on the long-range action to take a 13-7 lead at the media timeout. Vanderbilt held the Razorbacks scoreless for nearly four minutes, before a triple from Zimmerman later cut the Commodore lead to two possessions. Kayla Overbeck, who had a career-high 24 points against the Razorbacks on Sunday, got herself going late in the quarter with the last six points for the Dores in the quarter. Vanderbilt took the early 20-13 advantage at the break.
Second Quarter: Arkansas 37, Vanderbilt 32
The visitors opened the quarter with a 7-3 run forcing White to call a timeout to regroup just two minutes into the quarter. The score seesawed between the teams for most of the second half of the quarter. Cierra Walker and her stellar three-point shooting gave the Dores a boost as she added three more points in the second quarter to give her nine first half points but the Dores couldn’t find a way to stop the Razorbacks’ Swenson, who scored six of her 10 points in the second quarter to give the Razorbacks a 37-32 lead at the break.
Third Quarter: Arkansas 66, Vanderbilt 57
Both teams opened the quarter on a tear, matching each other bucket for bucket. Overbeck got back in the groove in the third quarter and picked up her second double-double of the season in the quarter with 14 points and 11 rebounds in the third period of play. The Razorbacks outscored the Commodores, 29-25, on the strength of 11 points from Kiara Williams, who was perfect from the floor. With the scored tied at 46 at the 6:06 mark, Arkansas took the lead on a three-pointer from Jailyn Mason and didn’t relinquish the lead for the rest of the quarter.
Fourth Quarter: Arkansas 88, Vanderbilt 76
Vanderbilt struggled mightily in the final quarter and couldn’t find anyone to match the inside-out tandem of Monk and Williams, who combined for 45 of Arkansas’ 88 points. Vanderbilt twice got the lead to single digits in the fourth quarter but couldn’t overcome the Razorbacks, who shot 53.3 percent in the fourth quarter, and drilled five three-pointers
Inside the Lane
-Kayla Overbeck recorded her second double-double of the season and ninth of her career.
-Kayla Overbeck’s 14 rebounds is a new career high.
-The Commodores and Razorbacks were playing for the second time in the last 72 hours after closing the regular season at Memorial Gym on Sunday.
-For the second straight game the Commodores won the battle of the glass, holding a 44-36 advantage.
-Christa Reed closed her senior year by making 27 consecutive free throws. Reed hasn’t missed a free throw since January 15 vs. Kentucky when she went 5-of-6 from the line.
