Lipscomb named to Biletnikoff Award Watch List

Vanderbilt’s Kalija Lipscomb has been named to the Biletnikoff Award Watch List, an award bestowed annually to the most outstanding FBS receiver, the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation, Inc., announced Wednesday.

The junior leads the Southeastern Conference with 45 catches, is tied for second in the league with six touchdown receptions and ranks fourth with 496 receiving yards. The New Orleans native, who had a career-high 174 receiving yards at two touchdowns against Tennessee State, has hauled in at least nine catches in four of VU’s last five games.

Lipscomb, who ranks sixth nationally in receptions, is the first Commodore named to the Biletnikoff Award watch list since All-America receiver Jordan Matthews was included in 2013.

Lipscomb is Vanderbilt’s active career leader with 109 receptions, 1,425 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns. His 174 receiving yards against Tennessee State on Sept. 29 were the most by a Commodore since current Arizona Cardinal Trent Sherfield had 184 yards vs. Tennessee on Nov. 26, 2016.

The Biletnikoff Award recipient will be selected by the highly distinguished Biletnikoff Award National Selection Committee, a group of prominent college football journalists, commentators, announcers, Biletnikoff Award winners and other former receivers.

The winner will be announced on The Home Depot College Football Awards presented by Gildan on Dec. 6. The award show airs live on ESPN from 6-8 p.m.
