Dores earn highest ranking in program history

NASHVILLE – Vanderbilt landed at No. 7 in the United Soccer Coaches Poll released on Tuesday, marking the highest ranking in program history. The Commodores also came in at seventh in the Top-Drawer Soccer rankings.

With the latest USC poll, the Dores (15-1-1, 8-0-1) passed the program’s previous all-time ranking of No. 8 set in 1998. The Commodores beat Kentucky, 4-1, on Sunday to clinch their first SEC regular season championship since 1994. Vanderbilt is currently on a 15-game unbeaten streak, the longest in program history.

The Dores have one conference game remaining before heading to Orange Beach, Alabama, for the SEC Tournament. Vanderbilt travels to face Ole Miss (11-6-1, 5-3-1) on Thursday to wrap up conference play.

The matchup with Ole Miss will be a chance for the Dores to finish undefeated in conference play for the first time since 1994 and just the third time in school history. The Dores also finished undefeated at home this season for the first time since 2004.

This week, Haley Hopkins was named the SEC Freshman of the Week after scoring once and adding two assists this weekend. She leads the team in goals (12) and assists (6).
