MG travel to Tavistock Collegiate Sunday

The Commodore men’s golf team returns to the course for the final time this fall this Sunday through Tuesday for the Tavistock Collegiate in Windermere, Fla. at the Isleworth Country Club.  Vanderbilt will compete against some of the nation’s top teams in the three-round, 54-hole event.

Play will take place beginning Sunday morning on the par-72, 7,544-yard layout with the 13th-ranked Commodores competing with No. 9 Illinois, No. 10 Texas, No. 18 Arizona State, No. 20 Auburn, No. 24 South Carolina, No. 25 California, Augusta, Florida, Texas Tech, North Texas, LSU, West Virginia, and Washington.

“This is one of our favorite tournaments of the year against a great field and on an awesome golf course,” said Vanderbilt head coach Scott Limbaugh.  “Our focus the last couple of weeks has just been on what each player can do to improve a little bit so we can be in a position to finish this part of our season on a strong note.  This is a big golf course that demands a lot from you as a player and I think it makes you better and gives you a great snapshot of where you are individually and as a group.  My message has been simple; for us to continue to enjoy the innocence of the climb and understand that talent won’t speed us up or slow us down, but that our mindset is the game changer.”

Competing for the Commodores at the Tavistock Collegiate are seniors Will Gordon and Patrick Martin, junior John Augenstein, and sophomores Mason Greenberg and Harrison Ott.
