Laning paces men at Arturo Barrios Invitational

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Commodore men’s cross country squad finished 13th in a field of 28 teams at the Arturo Barrios Invitational on Saturday. The Commodores finished ahead of LSU, Mississippi State and No. 28 Middle Tennessee on Texas A&M’s Dale Watts course in their final meet before the Southeastern Conference Championships. 

Nick Laning finished 39th overall to lead the Commodores and has led the pack in each of the last three meets. The freshman’s time of 25:22.9 placed him tenth among SEC competitors.

Harrison Thomas, Jason Vincze, Aidan Livingston and Evan Suzman rounded out the scoring five as they finished 70th, 83rd, 93rd and 97th, respectively. The final four did a solid job of pack running as they all finished within 23 seconds of each other. Thomas clocked in at 25:53.6 with Vincze, Livingston and Suzman not far behind at 26:06.5, 26:11.6 and 26:16.9.

Vanderbilt will next compete in the SEC Championships, scheduled on Oct. 26 in Auburn, Ala.
