Pregame Notes

  • Vanderbilt is in its 128th year of organized football.
  • The Commodores wore all black for the homecoming game, donning black helmets, uniforms and pants.
  • Vanderbilt won the toss and elected to receive. Georgia will defend the south end zone.
  • Attendance was 36,282.
  • Vanderbilt captains for the game were Oren Burks, Trent Sherfield and Ryan White.

Team Notes

  • The Commodores faced off against the team’s fourth straight ranked opponent, marking the first time in school history they have played four ranked opponents in a row.
  • Vanderbilt put up 14 points against Georgia. It is more than the Bulldogs’ last two SEC opponents combined.

Individual Notes

  • Caleb Scott earned his second straight start of the season at wide receiver while Saige Young got his second-consecutive start on the offensive line.
  • Dallas Rivers got his second career start against the Bulldogs.
  • During the two-minute drive to end the first half, Kyle Shurmur passed Jordan Rodgers for sixth all-time in passing yards at Vanderbilt. Shurmur finished the game with 172 yards passing and has 4,069 for his career.
  • Ralph Webb ran for 47 yards against the Bulldogs and moved into 16th all-time for rushing yards in the SEC, passing Shaun Alexander with 3,587 career yards.
  • Ralph Webb posted a 28-yard run in the first quarter. It is the longest rush of the season for Webb.
  • Jay Woods sacked Jake Fromm in the second quarter for his first sack of the season. It’s the first solo sack for Woods since September 12, 2015, against Georgia.
  • Kalija Lipscomb set a career high in receiving yards with 55 against the Bulldogs.
  • Emmanuel Smith tallied six tackles against Georgia. He has at least five tackles in every game this season.
  • Trent Sherfield hauled in four passes for 47 yards against the Bulldogs. He has had at least two receptions in all six games this season.
  • LaDarius Wiley snapped a three-game streak of double digit steals with just six tackles against Georgia.
  • Bryce Lewis recorded his first career sack and forced fumble in the fourth quarter when he got in the backfield and sacked Jacob Eason.
  • Nifae Lealao recovered the fumble for the second time in his career. His first fumble recovery came against Kentucky on Sept. 27, 2014.
  • Arnold Tarpley tallied a season-high six tackles against Georgia.
  • C.J. Duncan hauled in his second touchdown of the season on fourth-and-goal in the fourth quarter.

Offensive Notes

  • The Commodores went 75 yards in 1:30 at the end of the second quarter to score a touchdown before the half. Shurmur went 5-for-5 for 74 yards on the drive.

Defensive Notes

  • The Commodores held the Bulldogs to seven points in the first quarter. It is the lowest opening quarter total for the Bulldogs since they scored three points against Notre Dame on Sept. 9.
  • Vanderbilt has recorded a sack in all six games this season following Jay Woods’ sack in the second quarter.
  • It is the longest streak of consecutive games with a sack to start the season since 2012 when they got a sack in every game that season.
  • The Commodores held Jake Fromm to 51 passing yards in the first half.

Special Teams Notes

  • Sam Loy punted seven times for an average of 36.3 yards.
  • Sam Loy had a season-long punt of 56 yards in the third quarter.
