AUBURN, Ala. – The Vanderbilt Commodores came out on fire yet again at the SEC Champs, breaking two Vanderbilt records. This is now the third day in a row that the `Dores have broken two records.

SEC Day Three records

Tuesday Vanderbilt’s Kayla Moran broke the 50 free record in time trials and 800 relay team swam to a record speed of 7:21.72.

Wednesday Hannah Martin broke Moran’s record; which was established the day before in the 50 free. Later during evening swims, the 200 free relay swam a VU record swimming in at 1:33.19.

During Thursday’s preliminary swims VU’s top seeded Commodore, freshman Breanna Sapienza, broke her own 100 Fly record with a time of 54.00. Sophomore Rachel Koch recorded a career fastest time in the event as well, swimming in with a time of 54.55. VU success continued as Kayla Moran performed a season fastest time of 54.40.

Following the men’s 200 free the `Dores took to the waters in the 200 free. Continuing off yesterday’s successes, Martin set her third record in freestyle. The junior from Greensboro, N.C., now owns the three individual records; the 50, 100, and 200 freestyle records. Martin also helped set four of the five relay records that are in the Commodore books.

While no one has qualified for a final thus far, the Commodores have given some solid personal performances. Kayla Moran now joins Sapienza, as she earned her B cut time for NCAA championships.

Vandy looks forward to more conference action Friday, as the 200 fly, 100 back, 200 breast, and 400 relay are all on the agenda. Preliminary swims will start at 10 a.m., with final swims beginning at 6 p.m. CT.
