Pregame Notes
– Vanderbilt is in its 126th year of organized football.
– The Commodores wore an all white uniform with white helmets, jerseys and pants, marking the second time this season the Dores wore the uniform combination (at Ole Miss).
– Vanderbilt won the toss and deferred to the second half, Houston elected to receive and defend the east goal.
– Attendance was 29,565.
– Vanderbilt captains for the game were Khari Blasingame, Darreon Herring and Spencer Pulley.

Team Notes
– Vanderbilt and Houston met for just the second time in history on Saturday. The Commodores are now 1-1 against the Cougars all time having beat UH in the BBVA Compass Bowl in 2014.
– The Commodores are now 38-47-6 all time vs. current members of the American Athletic Conference.

Individual Notes
Landon Stokes earned his first career start at outside linebacker.
– True freshman QB Kyle Shurmur started for the second consecutive week.
Arnold Tarpley notched his second sack of the season, pulling down the QB for an 11-yard loss in the first quarter.
– Torrey Agee recorded his first career sack in the second quarter.
Ralph Webb rushed for 44 yards on 11 carries in the first half.
Darreon Herring and Zach Cunningham led the team in tackles at the half with five each.
Stephen Weatherly recovered his second fumble of the season in the third quarter.
Zach Cunningham forced two fumbles and recovered one in the game.
Andrew Williamson forced a fumble in the third quarter, his first of the season.
Ralph Webb rushed for 99 yards on 26 carries, marking the second straight week Webb rushed for 99 yards.
Zach Cunningham led the Commodores with nine tackles, seven solo, with 2.5 tackles for loss.
Ralph Webb moved up the sophomore rushing list with his 99 yards to reach 693 for the season good for fourth all-time by a Vanderbilt sophomore.

Offensive Notes
– The Commodores gained a season-low 185 yards in the loss.

Defensive Notes
– The defense made eight tackles for loss in the first half, including three sacks.
– For the fourth time in five games, the defense forced two turnovers in the game with the defense having forced nine over the team’s last five games.
– Vanderbilt held Houston to a season-low 371 total yards, the first time this season the Cougars did not surpass 400 yards of offense.

Special Teams Notes
Darrius Sims returned four kicks for 80 yards.
Tommy Openshaw punted eight times and placed three inside the 20-yard line.
