ARLINGTON, Texas – Vanderbilt lost a tight match in the semifinals to Maryland Eastern Shore, 4-3, and then let a 2-0 lead in the consolation match slip away to lose to Arkansas State, 4-2, Sunday to finish fourth at the Prairie View A&M Invitational.

Amanda Fry finished fifth individually with a 203 average to make the all-tournament team.

“We were in a good position after two days of play,” Coach John Williamson said, “but we made a few too many mistakes Sunday. Our game with UMES was so close that a spare pick-up here or there would have turned the tide since two games were decided by a total of thrree pins. We will learn from this and expect better things will happen next time.”

Vanderbilt’s next action is at Alabama A&M’s Holiday Classic in Bessemer, Ala, the end of the month.
