Bowlers in second at Valparaiso

Nov. 8, 2013

Vanderbilt’s bowlers came roaring back on the right track Friday and as a result are in second place at the Crusader Classic, hosted by Valparaiso.

The Commodores won four of their six matches and trail first-place Arkansas State by 60 pins heading into Saturday’s team games. Nebraska is third, Wisconsin-Whitewater fourth in the 15-team field.

“We were light years better in every way from what we showed last week,” Coach John Williamson said. “We executed better, we shot spares better…everything was better. We had a good all-around effort from everyone but I that Giselle (Poss) and Tori (Ferris) were very impressive. Tori came in with two games to go and averaged 230 and Giselle had just three opens in six games.”

Vanderbilt defeated Sam Houston State, Elmhurst, Alma and host Valpo while losing close games to Whitewater and McKendree, a former NAIA power new to the NCAA this year.

Vanderbilt predominantly used the rotation of Nicole Mosesso, Amanda Fry, Natalie Goodman, Poss and Robyn Renslow the first four games. Ferris entered for Fry in the final two games.
