Bowlers seventh at Hawk Classic

Nov. 15, 2013

MILLSBORO, DE—Vanderbilt is mired in seventh place after another day of struggle on the lanes at the Hawk Classic, an event the program has won five times in the past seven years. The Commodores won three games, lost one and played one bye set.

“Things we did well last week at Valparaiso we didn’t do well today,” Coach John Williamson said. “It was not just subpar spare shooting; our first shot execution which was pretty good in yesterday’s practice session was not as good as I expected. We were 35 pins up on UMES heading into our last game and lost the game by nearly 60 pins; we have got to find a way to finish games.”

The Commodores played all eight members of the travel party in an attempt to find a winning hand.

“I thought Robyn Renslow was really good today,” Williamson said, “and lucky for us she was or we would be in an even deeper hole.”

The tournament continues Saturday with team games and concludes Sunday.
