AIKEN, S.C. – The Vanderbilt men’s golf team is in 11th place after the first day of competition at the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Invitational in Aiken, S.C., after posting a two-round team total of 591 (298-293). Senior Adam Hofmann shot a six-over par, 146 (73-73) to lead the Commodores.

“I think the wind conditions may have gotten to us a little bit today,” said Shaw. “It was steady at 20-25 miles per hour with gusts up to 30, and we didn’t do a very good of handling it. But, that’s okay. Tomorrow the wind is forecasted to die down, and it’s going to be a beautiful day tomorrow for low scores. We’ll be ready.”

Other day one totals for Vanderbilt included Charlie Ewing with a 147 (74-73), Hunter Stewart (78-73) and Ben Fogler (73-78) with 151’s, and Trey DelGreco with a 154 (80-74).

South Carolina and Virginia lead the team portion of the tournament, each posting a 570. Virginia’s Ben Kohles and Clemson’s Crawford Reeves lead the individual leaderboard with a 139.

The Commodores will play the final 18 holes at the 6,617-yard, par 70 setup at the Palmetto Golf Club beginning at 11:22 a.m ET.
