Second Round Results

STATESBORO, Ga. – Vanderbilt senior Adam Hofmann carded a second-round 69, and freshman Hunter Stewart shot a two-under 70 to lead all Commodore golfers on Saturday at the Schenkel Invitational in Statesboro, Ga. As a team, VU shot a 289 for the day, and are in 14th place heading into Sunday’s final round with a team total of 593 (304-289).

“It was good to see Hof and Hunter play well today, and hopefully we can build off their performances for the final round Sunday,” said Vanderbilt head coach Tom Shaw.

The Commodores also counted a one-over par, 73, from Charlie Ewing, and a pair of 75’s from Trey DelGreco and Ben Fogler. Ryan Thornton is playing as an individual and posted a 75 on Saturday.

Hofmann is in a tie for 31st heading into the final round Sunday, and leads all Vanderbilt players.

Alabama is running away with the team championship and is 39-under par after two rounds (268-269), and has a 21-stroke advantage over second-place Virginia. The Cavaliers’ Ben Kohles leads the individual portion of the tournament by one stroke over the Crimson Tide’s Cory Whitsett.

The final round concludes on Sunday.
