Day one complete at Schenkel

First Round Results

STATESBORO, Ga. – Day one is complete at the Schenkel Invitational in Statesboro, Ga., and the Commodores are in 14th place after the first 18 holes at the par 72, 6,962-yard Forest Heights Country Club. Senior Adam Hofmann and freshman Ben Fogler led the way with a first-round 75. Vanderbilt posted a team total of 304 on Friday.

“It was a tough day for us,” said Vanderbilt head coach Tom Shaw. “We’ll regroup for another go at it tomorrow.”

Other scores for Vanderbilt were Trey DelGreco and Hunter Stewart’s 77, and Charlie Ewing’s 79.

Alabama leads the field after shooting a tournament-record 20-under par, 268. Ben Kohles of Virginia leads the individual leaderboard with a seven-under par, 65.

The second day of play continues on Saturday.
