Hendricks sets new pole vault record

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – In a final tune-up before the SEC Outdoor Championships, members of the Vanderbilt track & field team competed at the Billy Hayes Invitational on Friday, hosted by Indiana University.

Katherine Hendrickson re-claimed the school record in the pole vault last night after clearing a height of 12’7.5″ (3.85m), which was a four inch personal record. Her previous school record of 12′ ½” was broken two weeks ago by Meagan Martin, who cleared a height of 12’4″ (3.76m) at the Vanderbilt Invitational.

Hendricks finished fifth in the pole vault competition, followed by Morgan Toone at sixth, who cleared a height of 12’1.5″. Martin also cleared 12’1.5″, but came in 11th due to number of attempts.

In the high jump, Brionne Williams placed third after clearing 5’7.75″ (1.71m).

Taylor Jackson posted a season-best time of 24.62 seconds in the 200 meter dash, finishing first in the event. Anna Carr Hawkins finished four tenths of a second behind her in third with a time of 25.02 seconds. In the 400 meter dash, Teegan Hill clocked in at 58.42 seconds, good for eighth place.

In the 1500 meter run, Kristen Findley finished second with a time of 4:40.10. Erin McManus posted a time of 4:56.62. Findley also competed in the 800 meter run, clocking a time of 2:18.75.

Next up for the Commodores is the SEC Championships, hosted by the University of Georgia. The meet begins on Thurs., May 12 at the Spec Towns Track in Athens.
