Dores compete at Spec Towns Invite

ATHENS, Ga. – Members of the Vanderbilt track team traveled to Athens this weekend to compete in the Spec Towns National Team Invitational.

Teegan Hill kicked off the competition for the Dores with a first-place finish in the open division of the 400 meter dash. She clocked a season best time of 55.83 seconds.

Freshman Brionne Williams placed sixth in the high jump after clearing 5’5.75″ (1.67m). In the pole vault, Katherine Hendrickss and Meagen Martin both cleared 12’1.5″, while Moran Toone closed out the competition at 11’7.75″. Alyson Hasty topped out at 10’8″.

“Meagan and Katherine continue to put themselves in good position to qualify for the first round of nationals,” said assistant coach Clark Humphreys. “They both tied the school record with their jump of 12’1.5″ today.”

Kristen Findley came in fourth place in the 1500 meter invitational race with a time of 4:39.57. In the open division of the 1500 meter run, Megan Yohe paced the Commodores with a third place finish, clocking in at 4:52.17. Erin McManus crossed the finish line in 4:57.55, while Kara Slavoski and Haley Kolff posted times of 4:59.41 and 5:30.92, respectively. McManus and Slavoski also competed in the 800 meter run, and clocked in at 2:30.80 and 2:35.30.

The 4×100 relay team of Anna Carr Hawkins, Hill, Taylor Jackson and Josalyn White posted a time of 46.78 seconds. Hawkins and Jackson also competed in the invitational section of the 200 meter dash and finished one-hundredth of a second apart from each other, with Hawkins clocking in at 24.63 seconds at Jackson at 24.64 seconds.

Lacy Moore ran in the invitational division of the 400 meter hurdles, and clocked a time of 1:05.97.

“We had a great start to the day when Teegan won her 400 meter race,” said head coach D’Andre Hill-Montgomery. “The spring group followed that up with some solid times as well. The 4×100 relay group ran well considering they had taken a week off from competition.”

Members of the men’s cross country also competed at the Spec Towns Invite this weekend, with Alan Ash pacing the Dores in the 5000 meter run. He clocked in at 15:57.59, while David McAdams (16:04.68), Jenner Kizer (16:14.54) and Bram Chisholm (16:31.54) rounded out the Vanderbilt top four.

Members of the Vanderbilt distance squad ill travel to Walnut, Calif. next weekend to compete in the Mt. SAC Relays.
