HUNTLAND, Texas – Vanderbilt dropped the seventh and deciding Baker game to Nebraska in the opening round of Sunday’s championship bracket but came back with victories over Stephen F. Austin and the same Huskers by a 4-2 margin to finish third at the Track Kat Klash.

Vanderbilt All-American Brittni Hamilton earned all-tournament honors for the third time in three fall tournaments, based upon placing third in Saturday’s team game play. Jessica Earnest earned a top 10 finish, coming in eighth.

“It was a long tournament and we lacked execution for the most part,” said Coach John Williamson. “That could have been foreseen because that was how we practiced this week. We were able to persevere and finish third in a good field. I thought Jess (Easrnest) made a lot of important shots today, setting up Sam (Helsey) and giving us a chance to be successful. I also thought Natalie (Goodman) did well.”

Vanderbilt has concluded its fall season and resumes its competition Jan 13 at Arkansas State’s Mid-Winter Classic.
