Hilltopper Invitational Day Two Results Get Acrobat Reader

The Vanderbilt swimming team is in second place at Western Kentucky’s Hilltopper Invitatinoal with one day remaining.

The Commodores score of 866 trails only Western Kentucky’s first-place score of 1,113. Evansville sits in third with 795 points, while Arkansas-Little Rock is fourth with 319 and the University of the Cumberlands is in fifth with 225.

Vanderbilt used a handful of second place finishes to move up on day two.

The evening’s finals started with the 200 medley relay team of Chrissy Oberg, Sarah Lynch, Lauren Torres and Caroline Thomas placing second with a time of 1:47.86.

That momentum carried into the 400 IM, which saw Elly Faulkner place fourth, posting a finals time of 4:32.04. The “B” finals saw Alyxandra Vernon win with a time of 4:33.39.

The 200 free saw Commodores finish second, third and fourth. Torres placed second with a time of 1:53.23, Amy Salce placed third with a mark of 1:54.51 and Caroline Thomas’ time of 1:56.55 was good for fourth.

Dillon then placed fourth in the 100 breast, posting a mark of 1:06.55. Elizabeth Brunk won the “C” final of the event.

Oberg then placed second in the 100 back, with a time of 56.36, which was less than a second behind the winner. Thomas placed fifth, while Chelsea Morey placed sixth and Vernon won the “C” final.

The Commodores capped the day by placing second in the 800 freestyle relay. The team of Torres, Erika Deardorf, Salce and Thomas posted a mark of 7:43.89.

The Hilltopper Invitational concludes on tomorrow, Sunday, November 20. Prelims begin at 9:30 a.m., while the finals begin at 4:30 p.m.
