The Commodore women’s golf team finished the one-day, 18-hole Auburn Invitational in fourth place with a total of 305. Sophomore Marina Alex led all Vanderbilt individuals with a fifth place finish and a one-round score of one-over par, 73.

Auburn claimed the team title at the Auburn University Club with a 294. Georgia’s Emilie Bruger claimed the individual championship with a one-under par, 71.

After Alex’s 73, VU’s next best total came from freshman Lauren Stratton, who posted a two-over, 74. Megan Grehan and Brooke Goodwin each tallied a 78, Anna Leigh Keith posted an 80, and Andrea Messer fired an 81. Goodwin played the tournament as an individual.

“From a ball striking standpoint we hit it as good as anybody there,” said Vanderbilt coach Greg Allen. “Unfortunately, we had enough putts for everybody. We really struggled on the greens.”

The Commodores return to the course next weekend at the LSU Golf Classic next weekend.
