Commodores finish first day of SEC Indoors

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Vanderbilt’s Mallory Hitt capped a consistent indoor season with a 15th place finish with 3,161 points in the women’s pentathlon at the SEC Indoor Championships at the Randal Tyson Track Center at the University of Arkansas.

Hitt bettered four out of five performances from last year’s pentathlon performance at the 2009 SEC Indoor Championships, starting the five-stage event with a season-high time of 9.50 in the 60-meter hurdles. Following the hurdles, Hitt leaped to a 5-03.00 in the high jump, placing 8th out of 16 competitors.

Hitt’s performance completes the first day of the SEC Indoor Championships for the Commodores. The pole vault trio of Meagan Martin, Morgan Toone, and Katherine Hendricks will begin the action Saturday for the ‘Dores at noon.
