Bowlers finish fourth at FDU Jamboree

HOWELL, N.J. — Vanderbilt was unable to get its game into high gear Sunday and finished the Fairleigh Dickinson Jamboree in fourth place. Host FDU edged Maryland-Eastern Shore 4-3 in the title game to capture its own title.

In Sunday’s action, Sam Houston State continued its hot hand, beating the Commodores in the day’s first action in five games. Vanderbilt rebounded to top Kutztown and get into the consolation finals but once again was unable to top Sam Houston State, who had lost 4-3 to UMES.

In the individual standings, which were established in Saturday’s team games, the top Commodore finisher was Samantha Hesley, who was 11th in the field of 118. Hesley averaged 195.40 in five games. Brittni Hamilton was 17th (189.40) and Jessica Earnest was 21st (186.40). Kristina Frahm of UMES won the individual title with a 235 average.

Immediately after the tournament concluded the Commodore team hurried to New York City’s LaGuardia Airport for its return home and player and coach comments were not immediately available.
