Bowlers off to slow start

Nov. 19, 2010

MILLSBORO, Del. — Vanderbilt’s struggles on the lanes continued during Friday’s opening round of the Hawk Classic. The Commodores were in 11th place after winning just two of five Baker games and putting themselves in a deep hole, 271 pins behind leader Sacred Heart.

Vanderbilt has won this tournament, hosted by Maryland-Eastern Shore, four consecutive years but had a very slow start against Delaware State and never really found a steady gear. It was a similar story line in two prior outings and the Black and Gold are now saddled with a 10-12 won-loss mark on the young year.

Saturday’s play will consist of five traditional team games.
