GAINESVILLE, Fla. – For the second consecutive day the Vanderbilt track and field team dealed with rain delays and inclement weather while competing at the Southeastern Conference Outdoor Championships in Gainesville Friday. The Commodores had seven athletes compete Friday at the Percy Beard Track at James G. Pressly Stadium.

VU freshman sprinter Teegan Hill led the Commodores in the 200-meter dash with a 24.49 clocking while Taylor Jackson and Josalyn White followed with times of 24.63 and 26.14, respectively. Hill’s time was one-hundreth of a second off her collegiate personal best while Jackson’s time missed her personal record by 12-hundreths of a second.

Rita Jorgensen and Jordan White nearly advanced to Sunday night’s 800-meter final after posting times of 2:10.23 and 2:12.83 in the half-mile. White’s 2:12.83 marked a new personal record in the 800, topping her previous high of 2:12.95 in which she set at last month’s War Eagle Invitational. Jorgensen and Jordan White will compete in tomorrow’s 1500-meter run beginning at 6:15 p.m. EST.

Vanderbilt’s Mallory Hitt finished the seven-event heptathlon with 4476 points after recording a pair of eighth-place finishes in the javelin throw and 800-meter run.
