NCAA Men's Golf Central Region

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Vanderbilt senior Jon Curran closed his collegiate career Saturday with a three-under 69 on the final day of the 2009 NCAA Central Regional at The Club at Olde Stone.

Curran finished at two-under for the 54-hole event, finishing in a tie for third place in the 75-man field. Curran was two strokes back of North Carolina State’s Matt Hill, who earned medalist honors and advances to the NCAA National Championship as the top individual whose team does not make the top five.

The Washington Huskies finished second after UCLA overcame a seven-stroke deficit entering the final 18 holes. Ohio State, Georgia Tech and Duke rounded out the top five.

As a team, Vanderbilt finished in 10th place at 25-over. The Commodores improved each day, shooting a two-over 290 in Saturday’s final round.

Sophomore Ryan Haselden finished in a tie for 18th place at four-over. Haselden shot a one-over 73 with birdies on two of his final four holes. Sophomore Adam Hofmann also carded a one-over 73 Saturday.

Teams fought stormy weather conditions throughout the weekend, including a pair of delays on Saturday as golfers played up to 28 holes starting at 9 a.m. CT.
