NCAA Central Region Day One

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — The Vanderbilt men’s golf team stands in 10th place after day one of the 2009 NCAA Central Regional on Thursday at The Club at Olde Stone.

The Commodores shot a 17-over 305 on Olde Stone’s par-72, 7,372-yard layout. Vanderbilt is five strokes behind ninth-place Ohio State and nine strokes back of a fifth-place tie between Louisville and Ole Miss.

Top seeded Washington was the only team to score under-par on Thursday. The Huskies lead Georgia Tech by 10 strokes.

Individually, Vanderbilt was led by senior Jon Curran. The Hopkinton, Mass., native shot a two-over 74 and sits in a tie for 17th place in the field of 75 golfers.

Junior Hudson Johnson and sophomore Ryan Haselden both shot three-over 75s. Haselden carded a bogey-free 35 on his last nine holes after four bogeys on the back nine.
