Curran shoots three-over Thursday

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Vanderbilt junior Jon Curran shot a three-over 74 on Thursday to stand in 96th place after the first round of the NCAA East Regional at the Council Fire Golf Club.

Curran went out on the back nine at two-over before shooting plus-one on the front. The top 10 teams and two individuals not on those teams will advance to the NCAA National Championship, to be played at the end of the month at Purdue University’s Kampen Course.

Georgia holds an eight-stroke lead over Augusta State after 18 holes. Four Bulldogs shot under-par on Thursday, including first round co-leader Hudson Swafford. Swafford’s six-under 65 is tied for the individual lead with ASU’s Henrik Norlander.

Curran will tee off at 8:53 a.m. ET for Friday’s second round. He will again be grouped with Michael McGrady of Troy and Grant Leaver of Austin Peay.
