MG tied for 7th at Furman Intercollegiate

GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Vanderbilt men’s golf team is in a tie for seventh place after play in the second round of the Furman Intercollegiate was suspended due to darkness. Play was halted earlier Saturday for two hours because of severe weather in the area. The second round will continue Sunday morning and will be followed by the third and final round at the Furman University Golf Course.

The Commodores, who finished their round Saturday, have a team total of 594 (293-301) after shooting a 301 as a team in the second round. Vanderbilt was one of 15 teams that completed their round Saturday, with the remaining nine having to finish up Sunday morning.

Jon Curran paced the Vanderbilt effort after shooting an even-par 72 on Saturday. He is currently in the clubhouse with a two-round total of 143, which has him in a tie for fifth place. Other Commodore scores on the day included Hudson Johnson, who is at 148 (74-74, T-25), Brett Lange, who has a two-round score of 149 (71-78, T-37), Ryan Haselden, who sits at 155 (77-78, T-81), and Billy Whalen, who ended the two rounds with a 156 (79-77, T-90).

Tennessee Chattanooga maintains their lead after ending Friday’s round at the top of the leaderboard. UTC finished their round Saturday and has a two-day total of 577 (287-290), one stroke better than South Carolina, who has yet to finish round two.

Kyle Stanley of Clemson leads all individuals at four-under par, although he has five more holes to play in the second round.

The final day of the Furman Intercollegiate concludes on Sunday.
