Bowlers Go 5-0 Saturday

Feb. 16, 2008

PERRY HALL, MD — Vanderbilt went unbeaten against five opponents Saturday and finds itself in a logjam near the top of the 32 team field at the Morgan State Bowling Invitational.

The Commodores are in fifth place heading into Sunday’s finale but the top five teams are less than 100 pins apart, indicating this tournament is up for grabs.

“It was a good day for the Commodores,” said Coach John Williamson. “We were leading the event after four games but were leap-frogged in that last game even though we won our match. I was especially pleased with our spare shooting; we missed just six makeable spares all day; that is where we should be.”

Three `Dores had particularly good days. Junior Tara Kane with a 216 average in the five winning games while Michelle Peloquin was at 208 and Josie Earnest at 205.5. Peloquin’s 265 against St. Francis was the high-water mark for the team.

The tournament will be decided on total pin fall. Sunday’s action is a series of five, four-game set Baker games that get underway at 9 a.m at the Brunswick Perry Hall lanes.
