MG: Final Results at Shoal Creek

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Vanderbilt men’s golf team finished 12th at the Shoal Creek Intercollegiate Tuesday at Shoal Creek Country Club.

Junior All-American Jon Curran set the pace for the Commodores, shooting a two-under 70 on Tuesday to come back to six-over for the event. He finished in a tie for 18th place.

Sophomore Hudson Johnson and freshman Ben Klaus carded matching three-over 75’s in the final round. Johnson finished at plus-13, while Klaus ended his first collegiate event at plus-17.

Senior John Ebert shot a six-over 78 on Tuesday to finish in a tie for 41st place with Johnson. Senior Brett Lange struggled to a 10-over 82 in the final round to close the tournament at plus 21.

Texas Tech captured the team title, defeating host UAB by five strokes. Auburn, Ole Miss, North Florida and Oklahoma rounded out the top six. Individually, Red Raider Will Griffin and Blazer Brad Smith tied for medalist honors at three-under.

The Commodores will have nearly three weeks off before returning to competition in Johnson City, Tenn., at The Ridges, Oct. 14-16.
