Women's Golf In A Tie For Fourth After First Round Of Fall Preview

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The Vanderbilt women’s golf team fired a team score of 295 in the first round of the Margaret Branch Fall Preview, good for a tie for fourth place after the first day of play. The Commodores are eight strokes back of first place Duke, who shot a first-round 287.

Commodore senior Liebelei Lawrence paced the Vanderbilt effort on Monday, firing a two-under par, 71, on the par 73, 6,351-yard UNM Championship Course, which was good for a tie for ninth. Sophomore Brooke Goodwin and junior Jacqui Concolino shot opening round 74’s and are tied for 23rd, freshman Megan Grehan carded a 76 (T-46), and junior Amber Lundskog shot a first-round 87 (92).

Overall, Duke leads second-place UCLA by four strokes (291), and USC by five strokes (292). Arizona State is tied with the Commodores in fourth place.

Individually, Pepperdine’s Taylore Karle leads the field after shooting a six-under, 67. Dewi Claire Schreefel of USC and Pernilla Lindberg of Oklahoma State are each one stroke back at 68.

The second round of the three-round, 54-hole tournament takes place Tuesday morning.
