MG: 'Dores Finish Fourth In Raleigh

HOLLY SPRINGS, N.C. — The Vanderbilt men’s golf team finished fourth in the Courtyard by Marriott Intercollegiate Saturday, hosted by N.C. State at the Devil’s Ridge Golf Club.

Senior Luke List tied for third place in the event, just two strokes behind individual medalist Mitch Cohlmia of Tulsa.

Sophomore Jon Curran also registered a top 10 finish Sunday, placing seventh in the 75 player field. Junior Billy Whalen shot the Commodores’ low round of the day, a two-under 70, to finish 38th. Freshman Chris Rockwell and junior John Ebert also scored for the Commodores.

Charlotte won the team event by two strokes over the Golden Hurricane. Duke came in third, followed by Vanderbilt and Georgia Southern in a tie for fourth. The event included seven of Golfweek’s top 50 teams, including No. 16 Tulsa, No. 18 North Carolina, No. 24 Charlotte, No. 25 Duke, No. 37 UAB, No. 45 Augusta State, No. 47 Virginia Tech.

Head Coach Tom Shaw’s Commodores head to the Southeastern Conference Championships next weekend in Sea Island, Ga.
