MG: 'Dores Look To Rally At FSU

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The Vanderbilt men’s golf team dropped three spots back to 13th place after the second round of the Seminole Intercollegiate at the Golden Eagle Country Club Monday.

The Commodores shaved five strokes off their first day total, posting an eight-over 296 on Monday.

However, East Tennessee State, Louisiana State and Virginia each passed Vanderbilt on Monday. LSU and the College of Charleston stand one stroke ahead of the Commodores.

North Carolina shot a seven-under 281 on Monday, jumping from sixth place to first. The Tar Heels lead Auburn day one co-leader by a single stroke. In third place, Northwestern is seven strokes out of the lead, just ahead of Mississippi and host Florida State.

Sophomore Jon Curran recovered from a double-bogey to record VU’s low score on Monday — an even-par 72. Senior Dos Goldsmith shot a one-over 73, while freshman Chris Rockwell carded a two-over 74.

Senior Luke List failed to make a birdie during Monday’s round, shooting a five-over 77 to drop from seventh place to 28th. Junior Billy Whalen knocked a stroke off his Sunday round, going six-over during the second round.

Tuesday’s final round of 18 holes begins at 7 a.m. ET. Whalen leads off the Commodores’ round at 7:57 a.m.
