MG: Day One Results at the Ridges

JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. — The Vanderbilt men’s golf team shot a 13-over 301 on Friday in the first round of the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate at the Ridges Golf and Country Club.

WIth two days remaining in the 54-hole event, the Commodores have time to move up from their current position in 15th place.

Junior Jon Curran paced the Commodores, shooting a one-over 73. He stands in a tie for 32nd place. Sophomore Chris Rockwell shot a three-over 75 to rank 52nd in the 81-man field.

Head Coach Tom Shaw is competing two freshmen this weekend. Adam Hofmann, playing his second collegiate event, stands in 62nd place at four-over. In his first college tournament, newcomer Ryan Haselden shot a seven-over 79.

Senior Brett Lange also scored for the Commodores, carding a five-over 77 on Friday.

Host East Tennessee State leads the team event by one stroke over Kentucky. Wake Forest, Auburn and Virginia Tech round out the top five. Vanderbilt stands 19 strokes behind the leader.

Kentucky’s Ben Fuqua holds the individual lead at five-under. Three players stand one stroke behind at four-under.

Teams will play 18 holes on Saturday before closing with a final round on Sunday. Vanderbilt will tee off at 8:45 a.m. ET Saturday, leaving from the 10th tee with Maryland and Virginia.
