Men's Golf Places Second At Mason Rudolph

FRANKLIN, Tenn. — Host Vanderbilt finished in a tie for second place at the Mason Rudolph Men’s Golf Intercollegiate Tuesday at the Vanderbilt Legends Club. Senior Luke List completed the tournament in a tie for third place, while sophomore Jon Curran finished in a tie for fifth.

List, the tournament’s defending champion, held a one-stroke lead going into the third round. He was caught Tuesday by Mercer’s Silas Sutton and Memphis’ Kyle Peterman, who shared medalist honors after edging List by two strokes.

Curran shot the Commodores’ low round of the day, a one-over 73, to move to fifth place in the tournament only one stroke behind List.

Also scoring for the Dores on Tuesday were freshman Hudson Johnson and senior Dos Goldsmith, who each put up rounds of 75. Junior Brett Lange shot a 79 for the second straight day, while sophomore Tyler Matthews and junior Brett Ebert — playing as individuals — shot 73 and 76, respectively. Matthews finished in the tournament’s Top 20.

Vanderbilt will take a three-month hiatus from team competition, returning to play in February at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship in Jacksonville, Fla.
