List Leads Mason Rudolph; Dores in 2nd

FRANKLIN, Tenn. — Vanderbilt senior Luke List shot a four-under-par 68 Monday to take a one-stroke lead in the Mason Rudolph Intercollegiate, played on the Vanderbilt Legends Club’s Ironhorse Course.

List stands at three-under for the tournament, just ahead of Mercer’s Silas Sutton and Rice’s Kaz Hoffman.

Kyle Peterman of Memphis shot the low round of the tournament on Monday, a six-under 66, to move up to a tie for fourth place at one-under. Joining Peterman at one-under are Vanderbilt’s Jon Curran, MTSU’s Chas Narramore and Ole Miss’ Callum Macauley.

Co-leaders after Sunday’s first round, Ole Miss edged Vanderbilt by a single stroke on Monday (296-297) to a narrow lead in the team competition. North Florida stands four strokes off the lead, with Rice, MTSU and Memphis rounding out the top six.

“We got off to a rough start this morning,” VU Assistant Coach Justin Emil said. “But the guys hung in there and we gave ourselves a chance to win on Tuesday.”

List is the defending champion of the Mason Rudolph Intercollegiate. A season ago, he took medalist honors by shooting a final-round score of seven-under (65) to defeat Curran, his VU teammate, by three strokes.

Defending team champion Virginia showed the greatest improvement in Monday’s second round, shaving 18 strokes off its score from Sunday. North Florida shot the low round of the day, a four-over 292, to jump ahead of Rice and UT-Chattanooga into third place.

Weather conditions failed to improve Monday, as temperatures hung around 50 degrees and winds howled with near 20-mph gusts. With the forecast for Monday night including temperatures below freezing, Vanderbilt officials have decided to push back start times due to the risk of frost. A shotgun start is scheduled to go off at 9:30 a.m. CT.
