Men's Tennis Kicks Off Dual Play

NASHVILLE- The Vanderbilt men’s tennis team competes in its first dual match of the season, taking on Northwestern and Tennessee State in a doubleheader Friday afternoon at the Vanderbilt Currey Tennis Center.

Earning a successful start to the 2019 season hosting the Commodore Classic, the Dores concluded the tournament with 24 singles victories. The Commodores look to continue that success as they welcome the Wildcats Friday at 1 p.m.

The Dores face a 0-1 Northwestern team after the Cats fell short to Memphis, 5-2, in their first dual match of the season. The last time the Dores took on the Wildcats, Vanderbilt earned the win in a close 4-3 match in the 2018 season.

Headed into their second match of the day against Tennessee State, the Commodores will take on a fresh Tennessee State team with Friday’s match marking the Tigers’ first match since October.

The Dores will take the court against Tennessee State following their matchup against Northwestern at 4:30 p.m.

Admission to Friday’s doubleheader is free and the first 100 fans will receive an Anchor Down shaker bottle.
