Vanderbilt to be featured on the Golf Channel Monday-Wednesday at the East Lake Cup

ATLANTA, Ga. – The Vanderbilt men’s golf team will finish their fall campaign this Monday through Wednesday at the East Lake Cup in a tournament that will be featured on The Golf Channel. The tournament is celebrating its fifth year and will take place at historic East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, and will feature a field of eight teams (four men’s and four women’s) who were extended invitations as a result of their finishes at the 2019 NCAA Division I Golf Championships in May.

The Commodores will be competing in their third East Lake Cup.

Vanderbilt will compete with Wake Forest, Texas, and Oklahoma State in a hybrid stroke-play/match-play format. Eighteen holes of stroke play will take place on Monday, which will set the seeds for match play on Tuesday. The winners of the matches Tuesday will compete for the championship on Wednesday, while the losers will play in the consolation round.

The Golf Channel will have live coverage of the event from 2-5 p.m. CDT for all three days.

“We are so excited about this week,” said Vanderbilt head coach Scott Limbaugh. “Our team last year achieved something really special by reaching the NCAA Semifinals and in doing that was able to give our current team a really cool opportunity at The East Lake Cup. East Lake stands for so many great things and has done a lot to affect the community in a positive way. This event is a lot of fun and gives our program great exposure and it also gives us a great chance to replicate championship season because of the match play piece. We have the opportunity to finish this fall season strong and that’s what we want to do.”

Vanderbilt will send senior John Augenstein, junior Harrison Ott, sophomore Reid Davenport, and freshmen William Moll and Matthew Riedel to compete this week.

Tee times begin at 10:55 CDT on Monday.
