Four Dores Named All-SBL

Mabel Cummins a first-team selection

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt landed four student-athletes on the 2022 All-Southland Bowling League teams, the league office announced Wednesday.

Mabel Cummins was a first-team selection, Paige Peters was named to the second team and Angelica Anthony and Caroline Thesier were both third-team choices. Peters was also placed on the league’s All-Rookie Team.

Cummins, an NTCA All-American for the third straight season, was the Southland Bowling League Championship Most Valuable Player. She also made four all-tournament teams this season.

The SBL Bowler of the Month for January, Cummins ranked among national leaders in nearly 20 statistical categories and led the country in strike percentage.

Peters made a major impact during her first season with Vandy. She was named the NTCA national Rookie of the Year, an NTCA All-American and the Southland Bowling League Newcomer of the Year.

The SBL Newcomer of the Month in January, Peters was the Northeast Classic MVP and made two other all-tournament teams. She was among the nation’s top bowlers in 17 statistical categories.

Anthony made two all-tournament teams this season and rolled a perfect 300 game during the Dezy Strong Classic, the second 300 game in program history. Thesier made the Storming’ Blue and White Vegas Classic all-tournament team.

Vanderbilt finished the season in third place at the NCAA Tournament in Columbus, Ohio.
