Four Dores Heading to USA Basketball 3X Nationals

Mikayla Blakes, Khamil Pierre, Justine Pissott and Sacha Washington will represent Vanderbilt in Mesa, Arizona, on May 2-4

MESA, Ariz. – A quartet of Vanderbilt women’s basketball players head out west on May 2-4, as senior Sacha Washington, junior Justine Pissott, sophomore Khamil Pierre and freshman Mikayla Blakes will represent the Commodores at the 2025 USA Basketball 3X Nationals at the Arizona Athletic Grounds in Mesa, Arizona.

The event will feature 16 women’s teams vying for a 3×3 national championship. 3X Nationals will serve as an evaluation for selection to various future USA Basketball 3×3 women’s national teams, including the 2025 FIBA 3×3 World Cup, set for June 23-29 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, and roster spots for USA Basketball 3×3 World Tour, 3×3 Women’s Series, 3×3 U23 Nations League and 3×3 U23 World Cup teams.

3X Nationals will tip off May 2 with preliminary round men’s and women’s games and will continue through Sunday’s medal round games. Teams will be seeded based on preliminary records before entering bracket play. Game action is set to stream live on Friday, Saturday and Sunday on X (formerly Twitter) and YouTube.com/USABasketball.

Games will be played on a half court with a 10-minute clock and a 12-second shot clock. The first team to 21 points, or the team in the lead at the end of regulation, is the winner.

Vanderbilt will be sending Washington, Pissott, Pierre and Blakes to compete against other 3×3 teams consisting of the best women’s college basketball players.

Along with the Commodores, teams that will compete in Mesa this weekend are Fairfield, Florida, James Madison, Oklahoma State, Richmond, South Carolina, South Dakota State, Stephen F. Austin, and TCU, in addition to the 3×3 pro team, 3XBA, and independent Team Phoenix.

Washington will be making her first on-court appearance in over a year at the 3X Nationals, as she sat out the 2024-25 season due to a medical redshirt. The last time the 6-2 forward played in 2023-24, she averaged 12.1 points and led the Commodores in rebounding at 7.9 caroms per contest.

Blakes, Pierre and Pissott each played a key role in guiding Vanderbilt to its second-straight 20-win season and March Madness appearance.

Blakes averaged a team-best 23.3 points per game en route to being named the USBWA Tamika Catchings National Freshman of the Year and SEC Freshman of the Year. Pierre tallied 20.4 points and a team-best 9.6 rebounds in 2024-25 and was named to the WBCA All-American honorable mention team. Pissott, who just completed her second season with the Dores, hit a team-high 38.8 percent from behind the arc in 2024-25.
