BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Four members of the Vanderbilt soccer program earned All-SEC recognition as announced by the conference office Sunday morning.
Junior Hannah McLaughlin was named to the All-SEC First Team for the first time in her career after being named a second-team honoree after the 2023 season. As a defender, McLaughlin helped anchor Vandy’s defense that recorded nine shutouts and allowed just 10 goals during the regular season.
Abi Brighton was named second-team All-SEC for the second consecutive year. Brighton commanded Vandy’s offense which scored 36 goals and was credited with 28 assists, ending the regular season on a seven-game unbeaten streak for the first time since 2019.
Forward Sydney Watts took off during her sophomore campaign, appearing in all 17 matches (16 starts) and earning All-SEC Third Team. Watts leads the offense with seven goals so far and has dished one assist for 15 points.
Freshman Mary Beth McLaughlin landed on the All-SEC Freshman Team after appearing in 12 matches this season with four starts. McLaughlin dished the first assist of her career in a 2-2 draw at nationally-ranked Auburn.
Vandy returns to the pitch this evening in a 7 p.m. kickoff against Alabama in the first round of the SEC Tournament. The match will be shown on SEC Network.
